Is religion and reason incompatible? I think not but that isn't always an easy position to uphold. We can't claim there is any unnecessary connection between being religious and not being able to reason well because there are many today who reason poorly. At the same time, it seems rare for religion to promote theirs without reason or value their logic while it's common for religion to praise high emotions and faith - two things which often inhibit good reasoning.
I would much prefer to spend my time with a devout but skeptical Christian who is very good at reasoning, philosophy and logic than with a person who has magnetic, influential or charismatic personality who doesn't know why he believe what he believes, do what he is doing or even stand on where he is standing.
